Sally Wright CV

Sally Carole Wright is an artist based on Queensland’s Gold Coast. Predominantly a mark-maker with a painterly abstract style, she is interested in exploring surface, contrast and hidden meanings. She has recently exhibited with The Walls Art Space, Metro Artspace, The Field at M.Arts Precinct, and Lorraine Pilgrim Gallery and had residencies with The Walls Art Space and The Field at M.Arts Precinct.

She incorporates painting, printmaking, drawing and collage, building up layers that are accumulated and transformed into spatial compositions. She has recently funnelled the documentation of this work into stop-motion animation, exploring notions of slow technology and the capture of ephemeral traces and actions.

After obtaining her Fine Art Degree of the School of Art, University of Tasmania, Hobart, Sally completed her Honours in Contemporary Art at UTAS, Launceston, receiving the Painting Prize. Her works can be found in collections including National Gallery Australia, Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery and Swinburne University. She is fascinated with the care and management of art, and her passion for making this accessible to others is evident through both her Graduate Diploma qualification in Museum Studies, from the University of QLD and her current role as a project officer with the Gallery at HOTA, Home of the Arts.
