Bio

Donna Malone is an emerging Queensland artist. She grew up in Sydney, completed Graphic Design Certificate and Animation Certificate at Randwick Technical College in 1980-1982, raised her children in the Byron Shire, trained at TAFE Murwillumbah in Visual Arts in 1996 and 2003 and is now working and residing in Brisbane. She is committed to her full time art practise which includes drawing daily (on trains, in ‘life drawing’ sessions, in cafes, and in nature) around her home as well as interstate and overseas. Drawing daily has always helped her connect with herself. She is primarily a Drawer, an artist who sees her Drawing as breathing, living things, part of the primal energy which drives her.

“I have always responded to life by Drawing. I draw instinctually with a diverse range of techniques and materials in a relatively impulsive way. I am interested in the integrity and spontaneity of the materials i use and of the things I draw. ‘Aliveness’, really, is what i respond to and what inspires me and Inspiration can come from some surprisingly ordinary places!”. Donna is represented by Lorraine Pilgrim.
